Auditions for membership are usually held once each season, at the
beginning of the season. However, interested singers will also be
heard throughout the year. General
auditions for the 2010/2011 season are scheduled to be held on
Tuesday, August 31
and
Thursday, September 2 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in the Memorial
Room at the Fairfield Public Library in Fairfield and
on Thursday,

at the Norwalk Concert Hall in the Mary McCarthy Room.
Singers are expected to
have one prepared solo, in any language including English; sight-reading
a choral part; vocalizing to determine range. Each person

Guidelines and
Requirements of Membership
The Mendelssohn Choir operates at a professional standard of
excellence. Individuals are expected to maintain this standard by
thorough knowledge of the music.
Your audition and
acceptance into The Mendelssohn Choir should reflect a sincere desire on
your part to participate in the creation of choral music. It
implies a commitment on your part to sing the compliment of concerts in
the schedule of a particular season.
Rehearsals are held every
Tuesday evening from 7:30 to 10:00 P.M., and additional rehearsals are
held during the week of the concert, as well as sectionals scheduled
throughout the season. A calendar with our rehearsal and concerts
dates is issued to all at the beginning of each season so that singers
may arrange their schedules.
